Today’s post is brought to you by love…
With a sprinkling of pixie dust, a dash of wonder and a reminder of magic. And courage, who made me promise to press post, even though I’m not a poet.
Whatever will Watson think?!
“Wild Hope” glows like a magical beacon
on the book’s spine as dawn breaks.
The crystal suncatcher sways,
shimmering rainbows onto
white walls in the breeze.
Feeling goosebumps prickling,
I slide my arm through my sleeve.
An unexpected object falls.
Delicate white fronds twirl,
a feather like a tiny angel wing.
The light shifts as Sherlock saunters in,
soft black coat shining in the sunlight.
He gracefully pauses, then turns;
gorgeous green eyes meet mine.
A fleeting moment of magic.
The red sun rises, and the wind blows
casting crystal rainbows on the carpet.
Sherlock tenses, muscles tightening.
Eyes fixated on the dancing light,
he crouches, ready to spring.
His weight shifts and his tail swishes.
His bum twerks… and he pounces
as his ephemeral prey slips away.
The crystal suncatcher sways.
Sherlock chases rainbows.
I wrote this poem in response to a prompt from the wonderful
, guided by my muse, and a small, impossiblyYou may be astonished by what you find when you open your eyes and heart to possibility.
After writing and posting this, I realised I had forgotten to add context. You probably didn’t notice. You gifted me your precious time and took the poem at face value. I love that about you.
I wrote it because for me, flourishing is often more about small things than big gestures. I am currently writing my MA thesis, while also healing from heartbreak and trying to corral my brain in the wake of the ADHD medication shortage.
I have always noticed magical moments. They are there no matter what your life looks and feels like. When your ideal life feels far away and flourishing seems like a pipe dream, I invite you to stop, breathe, feel your feet and then notice what is around you. You may be astonished by what you find when you open your eyes and heart to possibility.
Over To You…
Did reading this remind you of any magical moments?

Until next time, go gently and give yourself grace,
I love this Helen, I too have to press send quickly on any lines winged to me by the sensitive child who didn't feel they could express themselves. Now I own those words, they are mine. As I was sat here looking out the window into the garden, a single white feather floated ever so slowly past and seemed to suspend itself for a moment in midair, just to check I had noticed it. I had.
Wow, again. Love this. I too find delight in the way light scatters unexpectedly around my home. I also enjoy my cat's antics, and love finding him statue-still, basking in unexpected places. The small things can indeed be the life-giving things. My cat's name is Geronimo. I didn't name him, but was happy to discover his name means 'sacred'. Geronimo is also shouted to express exhilaration, especially when leaping from a great height. So, I think perhaps he gives me courage to make creative leaps.
I love your photos too.
