Why I Write… Part 1

A Poem For Writers

I write because I can’t not. 
Because the ideas will not stop.
I write because it helps me breathe. 
I write to tune into what my soul,
heart and ancestors believe.

I write for women who never had a voice. 
For those who lived so that I have choice. 
I write because I am the end of the line.
My words are my legacy,
the love drops I leave behind.

I write while doubt dances with delight,
capturing shameful fears deep in the night.
I write to share the stories I find
hidden among dusty cobwebs
in the corners of my messy mind.

I write to share life’s kaleidoscopic glory,
finding magic in the mundane stories.
I write because it lightens heavy days
when I release heavy thoughts 
from their convoluted mental maze.

I write to capture the microcosm of life,
helping me uncover serenity in strife.
I write because I trust I can do no wrong
when I surrender to the call
of my irrepressible soul song.

I write to build a bridge of possibility
for beautiful souls led by curiosity.
I write because I have no choice.
Rippling love through words
is the only way I know to use my voice.
